Senior Technical Program Manager, Office of the CTO
As a Senior Technical Program Manager at GitLab, you will lead complex programs within our Engineering Division. You will help teams transform important projects into clear plans and ensure reliable delivery.
About the Role
This is a fully remote position open to candidates in Canada, Europe, and the US-Southeast. In this fast-paced environment, strong communication is key. You will own programs from start to finish and help improve how our R&D work gets coordinated.
What You'll Do
- Lead multiple complex, cross-functional programs across GitLab's Engineering division and partner functions.
- Coordinate dependencies, surface blockers early, and keep stakeholders aligned on priorities.
- Work with leaders in Engineering, Product, Finance, Legal, and Go-to-Market to set clear program goals.
- Establish program operating rhythms, including meetings and status reports to enhance visibility.
- Create and maintain program documentation, focusing on an async-first approach.
- Drive consistent execution by clarifying ownership and following through on commitments.
- Contribute to improving Technical Program Manager practices by documenting playbooks and sharing learnings.
- Model GitLab's CREDIT values in your communication and decision-making.
What We're Looking For
- Experience managing complex, cross-functional technical programs from start to finish.
- Ability to build relationships and drive alignment with stakeholders, including senior leaders.
- Skill in establishing program governance, including status reporting and decision logs.
- Strong written communication and async collaboration habits.
- Analytical skills to identify risks and present options to stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and familiarity with DevOps practices is helpful.
- Experience improving program processes through documentation and retrospectives.
