Senior Technical Writer
Join Redpanda as a Senior Technical Writer and play a key role in shaping our documentation team. You will lead the vision, strategy, and implementation of documentation for our innovative products.
About the Role
At Redpanda, we are pioneering the Agentic Data Plane (ADP), a new category in AI infrastructure. As a Senior Technical Writer, you will document various functional areas of our products, including security, the Agentic Data Plane, Kubernetes, and automated reference content. You will work closely with engineering and product teams, advocating for user experience and driving product strategy.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with engineering teams to discuss technologies and workflows, creating high-quality documentation.
- Write, format, and edit content, including security configurations and cluster configuration.
- Utilize AI tools like Claude Code, CodeRabbit, and Copilot to enhance efficiency.
- Contribute to web content design; a background in content design is a plus.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing across engineering, product management, and design teams.
- Partner with content specialists to define documentation standards and best practices.
- Assess and propose software and methods to improve documentation processes.
- Write and revise content with a focus on customer experience.
- Engage in community discussions with open-source software, prospective, and paying customers.
- Be part of a diverse, remote team.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of experience writing technical documentation for an external developer audience.
- Familiarity with basic software security fundamentals.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into clear, developer-focused documentation.
- Experience working with LLMs as both a writer and a user.
- Recent experience in a docs-as-code environment.
- Understanding of Git, open-source development, Asciidoc/Antora, and front-end web development.
- Experience with open-source technologies and communities.
- Proficiency in reading and coding languages such as Java, Golang, or Python, and YAML; familiarity with data streaming or Apache Kafka is a plus.
- Strong information architecture and design skills.
- Desire to help customers find the information they need quickly and easily.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
What We Offer
The U.S. base salary range for this role is $146,000 - $172,000 (CA, NY, WA) and $127,000 - $148,000 (other U.S. locations). Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. As a remote-first company, we consider each candidate's skills, location, experience, and relevant education to determine individual base salary.
