Backend Engineer II at Monzo Bank
Join our team as a Backend Engineer II and help us build a banking platform that our customers love. You will work closely with a diverse team to create innovative solutions that make a real difference in people's lives.
About the Role
At Monzo, we have around 400 engineers who design and build our in-house banking platform. We aim to create a bank that meets our customers' needs, and technology is key to achieving this. As a Backend Engineer, you will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to support various aspects of our platform.
What You'll Do
- Work within a squad to build and support specific parts of Monzo.
- Collaborate with team members from various disciplines, including marketing, user research, and data analysis.
- Join one of our collectives focused on areas like Core Banking, Business Banking, or Security.
- Contribute to open source software and share your knowledge through our blog.
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience in backend development for technology products.
- Interest in building products that you and others use daily.
- A product mindset focused on customer outcomes and data-informed decisions.
- Comfortable working in a team that navigates ambiguity.
- Interest in distributed systems and writing resilient software.
- Experience with strongly-typed languages (Go, Java, C, Scala, etc.).
- A willingness to learn and adapt.

What We Offer
