About the Role

At Zapier, we focus on making automation accessible for our partners, including SaaS partners, developers, and AI agents. As part of the Partner Solutions team, you will design and maintain the external interfaces and programs that allow partners to integrate Zapier into their offerings. Your mission will be to help partners unlock new revenue and growth opportunities through our APIs and embedded experiences.

What You'll Do

• Design and build new partner-facing APIs for automation and integration within partner platforms.
• Expand and improve the Powered by Zapier platform, ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Enhance partner developer tools and documentation for better onboarding and implementation.
• Balance internal and external needs for ergonomic and scalable systems.
• Collaborate with teams including Platform, Infrastructure, and Product Engineering.
• Lead technical initiatives, mentor teammates, and contribute to long-term architectural decisions.

What We're Looking For

We seek experienced backend engineers with a blend of technical skills and empathy for customers. You should have:

• API Development Experience: Proven experience in building and maintaining APIs and integration points.
• Language Proficiency: Strong skills in Python, with experience in Django and the Django REST Framework.
• Authentication Knowledge: Familiarity with OAuth, API keys, JWTs, and secure API patterns.
• Scale and Reliability Mindset: Ability to design systems for performance and maintainability.
• Developer Experience Focus: A commitment to usability and feedback for external developers.
• Collaborative Spirit: Comfort in cross-functional environments, engaging with product managers and designers.
• Remote-Ready Discipline: Strong written communication and ability to work autonomously in a distributed team.
• Adaptability: Comfort with ambiguity and evolving tools and practices as the team grows.

Nice to Have

• Experience with OpenAPI specifications or SDK generation pipelines.
• Familiarity with AI development tools or a willingness to learn about AI in automation.
• Experience working with external partners or developer platforms.
• Familiarity with React and Next.js for understanding embedded partner experiences.
