At Catawiki, we celebrate the extraordinary every day. As an Expert on Designer Furniture, you will play a key role in evaluating and arranging unique auction lots. Your expertise will help create appealing auctions that attract bidders from around the world.

About the Role

In this position, you will work closely with our Design & Vintage category team. You will evaluate lots submitted by users and collaborate with other experts to curate weekly auctions. Your knowledge of vintage designer furniture will help us maintain transparency and fairness in user transactions.

You will review lot titles, descriptions, and images, providing users with estimated values. If a submission needs to be rejected, you will do so professionally. Your contributions will ensure that our auctions are irresistible to bidders.

Additionally, you will work with the sales team to grow our seller base for design and lighting auctions. This includes reviewing seller segments, onboarding potential leads, and upselling existing sellers using your extensive network.

What You'll Do

• Evaluate vintage and designer furniture lots submitted by users.
• Collaborate with team members to create attractive auctions.
• Review and assess lot titles, descriptions, and images.
• Provide estimated values for auction lots.
• Reject submissions in a courteous manner when necessary.
• Develop the seller base for design and lighting auctions.
• Assist in onboarding high-potential leads and upselling existing sellers.

What We're Looking For

• Strong expertise in vintage and designer furniture (e.g., chairs, sofas, tables).
• Experience from an auction house, vintage design dealership, or as a dealer in vintage furniture.
• In-depth knowledge of iconic designers, brands, and production techniques.
• Ability to assess authenticity, age, condition, and material quality.
• Confident in valuing objects and determining market prices.
• Documented commercial experience in price negotiations and sourcing leads is preferred.
• Team player who thrives in a diverse environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Strong computer skills.
• Existing professional relationships in the designer furniture or lighting sector are a plus.
• An affinity for numbers and auction analysis is beneficial.

Where You’ll Be

This role can be based in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, or other European countries with a work-from-home arrangement.
