Join our team at Kraken as an FIU Compliance Associate. In this role, you'll help ensure our Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) can grow effectively while meeting regulatory requirements. You'll work on transaction monitoring and process improvements, supporting our mission to drive global crypto adoption.

About the Role

The Compliance team at Kraken plays a vital role in our growth. The FIU Scale Team focuses on enhancing our transaction monitoring and compliance frameworks. As a Senior Compliance Associate, you'll provide leadership in transaction monitoring, support automation efforts, and collaborate with various teams to ensure our compliance processes are efficient and effective.

What You'll Do

• Lead optimization of transaction monitoring, including testing rules and tuning thresholds to improve detection quality.
• Drive automation and workflow improvements across FIU processes to enhance operational efficiency.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies, such as AI tools, to improve alert triage and investigations.
• Work with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams on vendor integrations and monitoring infrastructure improvements.
• Collaborate with Compliance leadership to maintain effective transaction monitoring frameworks.
• Support FIU scalability by designing processes that accommodate new products and increased transaction volumes.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in AML, financial crime compliance, or FIU operations.
• 3+ years of experience designing and tuning transaction monitoring rules.
• 3+ years of experience with transaction monitoring systems and compliance tools.
• Experience in a regulated financial institution, preferably in the EU, UK, or US.
• Experience with process optimization or automation in compliance programs.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with various teams to implement compliance solutions.
• Strong analytical skills and experience using data to evaluate monitoring effectiveness.
• Experience in fast-growing fintech, payments, or crypto environments.
• Familiarity with AI or machine learning tools in compliance.
• Experience with blockchain analytics tools like Chainalysis or similar platforms.

Nice to Have

• ACAMS, CAMS-Audit, CFCS, or similar financial crime certifications.
