About the Role

As the Payroll Risk & Compliance Principal for the Nordics, you will be responsible for ensuring payroll compliance in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland. In Norway, you will have formal statutory responsibility as the named Oppdragsansvarlig under the Norwegian Accountants Act.

What You'll Do

  • Take personal accountability for Norwegian payroll assignments.
  • Integrate Nordic legislation into our product systems and governance frameworks.
  • Translate complex legal requirements into practical operational designs.
  • Lead audits and regulatory readiness across the region.
  • Mentor and enhance compliance skills within the organization.

You will collaborate closely with teams in Product, Engineering, Design, Legal, and Operations to ensure compliance is built into our payroll platform from the start.

What We're Looking For

  • Active Autorisert Regnskapsfører licence (mandatory): You must hold a valid Norwegian State Authorised Accountant certification from Finanstilsynet.
  • Norwegian payroll expertise: You should have hands-on experience with:
    • A-melding reporting
    • NAV processes
    • Pension administration
    • Altinn.no workflows
    • GRFS standards
  • Legislative understanding: You should know how legal requirements affect payroll calculations and quality control.
  • Regional knowledge: Familiarity with payroll and employment compliance in Sweden, Denmark, and/or Finland is a plus.
  • Product requirements: Ability to convert statutory rules into clear product specifications.
  • Audit experience: You should have led audits or compliance programs and can design governance frameworks.
  • Clear communication: You can explain complex regulations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Team development: You elevate team skills through mentoring and structured support.
  • Adaptability: You thrive in a fast-paced, fully remote environment.
  • Automation skills: Strong capabilities in automation and AI are essential.

  • Influence compliance operations across the Nordics and beyond.
  • Shape product logic and automation frameworks for global scalability.
  • Build thought leadership through documentation and industry engagement.
  • Develop future compliance leaders through coaching programs.
  • Drive innovation in automation and AI-assisted compliance tools.

  • Location: Norway (required for regulatory purposes)
  • Start date: As soon as possible

The annual salary range for this full-time position is $1—$3 USD.
