Performance & Capacity Engineer – Capacity Planning Optimization
Meta is looking for a Performance & Capacity Engineer to join our Capacity Planning Optimization Engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design of software systems and processes to optimize infrastructure capacity planning across all of Meta. This is a hands-on leadership position where you will build complex systems while guiding other engineers and non-technical contributors.
About the Role
You will work in a cross-functional environment, collaborating with various engineering and business teams. Your work will impact all Meta products and services, such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, as well as our physical infrastructure, including servers and data centers. You will also connect business goals with software-driven capacity planning, influencing decisions made at the highest levels of the company.
What You'll Do
- Own infrastructure capacity planning for all of Meta, focusing on how to scale server and data center resources efficiently.
- Collaborate with teams across the engineering landscape to optimize hardware, infrastructure, and software integration.
- Design and build software systems for scalable, reliable planning, connecting business strategy with technical execution.
- Lead large engineering efforts while implementing complex parts of system and process design.
- Work with Finance and business teams to balance cost efficiency with technical and product needs.
- Define problem statements, collect data, and build software-driven models to recommend changes and optimizations.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of experience in Performance, Capacity, or software engineering.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or other programming languages, with experience in designing large-scale software systems.
- Demonstrated success in leading large engineering projects, defining goals, and managing ambiguity.
- Experience with large-scale technical infrastructure and distributed systems.
- Interest in building systems and processes from scratch with unclear requirements and goals.
- Experience in technical infrastructure planning or capacity planning.
- Familiarity with mathematical optimization and solvers.
