Join Our Team as a Principal Medical Writer
Precision AQ is expanding! We are looking for a talented Principal Medical Writer (PMW) to become part of our Brand & Promotion team in the UK. In this role, you will create high-quality promotional content that aligns with client goals and complies with industry standards.
About the Role
The Principal Medical Writer will lead the development of promotional materials across various channels. You will work closely with a Senior Scientific Director and collaborate with different teams to ensure that our content is accurate, compelling, and compliant with the ABPI Code of Practice.
What You'll Do
Content Development – Promotional Focus
- Create high-quality promotional content that is scientifically sound and aligned with brand messaging.
- Develop and refine copy for various promotional materials, including:
- Promotional campaigns
- Brand narratives
- Detail aids (digital and print)
- Leave pieces
- Promotional emails
- Congress materials (e.g., symposia content, promotional booths)
- Claims support materials
- Interactive and digital promotional tools
- Ensure all materials comply with the ABPI Code of Practice.
- Translate complex scientific data into clear promotional messages.
- Conduct literature searches to support brand messaging and claims.
- Produce multiple rounds of content with attention to detail, including annotations and references.
- Incorporate feedback effectively to finalize deliverables.
- Ensure brand strategy is reflected across all materials.
Internal and External Collaboration
- Work closely with Account, Editorial, Creative, Digital, and Client Services teams for timely delivery.
- Manage multiple priorities and communicate proactively about timelines.
- Collaborate with senior leaders and clients to align on brand objectives and communication strategies.
- Lead scientific discussions with clients and external experts.
- Act as the scientific lead on brand projects, ensuring clear communication.
- Navigate the MLR process, providing scientific justification for claims and guiding teams on necessary changes.
Management and Leadership
- Lead brand-promotion projects from a scientific perspective, ensuring quality from start to finish.
- Mentor junior writers and provide first-pass review support.
- Work with senior leaders to improve processes and uphold best practices.
- Support business development with scientific input and contribute to pitches.
- Stay updated on therapeutic developments and promotional best practices.
Other Responsibilities
- Complete mandatory training and performance evaluations as required.
- Adhere to legal and compliance obligations, including Data Protection and Health & Safety.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- PhD in a scientific discipline.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in medical writing, preferably in a medical communications agency with a focus on pharmaceutical promotional materials.
- Experience in developing promotional assets like brand campaigns and congress materials.
- Strong understanding of the ABPI Code of Practice.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word®, PowerPoint®, Excel®), Adobe Acrobat®, and reference-management tools (e.g., EndNote®).
- Experience with literature databases (e.g., PubMed).
- Ability to quickly learn new therapeutic areas and communicate effectively.
- Familiarity with internal communication tools (e.g., Teams).
- Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings and events.
