Job Description

Renewals Manager

As a Renewals Manager at GitLab, you will manage the entire renewal process for a specific group of customers. Your goal is to protect and grow recurring revenue while ensuring a smooth experience for our clients.

About the Role

In this role, you will own the end-to-end renewal lifecycle for your assigned portfolio of GitLab customers. You will engage with customers well before their renewal dates, lead pricing discussions, negotiate agreements, and address any risks to ensure they can continue using GitLab's platform without interruption. You will collaborate with various teams to forecast outcomes, reduce churn, and identify opportunities for expansion.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the renewal lifecycle for your assigned customer contracts, from initial engagement to signed agreements.
  • Develop and implement renewal strategies to protect revenue and minimize churn.
  • Prepare renewal proposals, pricing quotes, and contract documentation based on customer needs.
  • Lead negotiations with customer stakeholders, managing pricing, terms, and timelines.
  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities in partnership with Sales and Customer Success.
  • Monitor customer health and satisfaction to address at-risk renewals early and implement mitigation plans.
  • Maintain accurate renewal pipeline and forecasts in CRM systems for clear reporting.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Legal, and Product teams to ensure timely renewals.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience managing the renewal process for subscription or SaaS contracts, including forecasting and negotiation.
  • Background in B2B subscription businesses with a proven record of meeting renewal goals.
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of renewal accounts while prioritizing high-impact opportunities.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms like Salesforce or HubSpot, and strong skills in Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with customer stakeholders and the ability to navigate complex procurement processes.
  • Experience working with Sales, Customer Success, Finance, and Legal teams to manage renewals and contract terms.
  • Ability to identify renewal risks early and develop effective mitigation plans.
  • Willingness to learn GitLab's platform and processes; transferable skills from renewals, account management, sales, or customer success are welcome.
