Senior Application Engineer - Workplace Technology
MozillaJob Description
Senior Application Engineer - Workplace Technology
Join Mozilla as a Senior Application Engineer in our Workplace Technology team. You will help design, build, and maintain the systems that enhance how our team collaborates and works together.
About the Role
This position is part of the IT Function within the Mozilla Infrastructure team. Our IT team supports various services across the organization, including ERP Services, Workplace services, Service-Desk, and On-Prem DC Services. As a Software Engineer, you will work on systems and automations that power Mozilla’s workplace technologies, including collaboration tools and identity workflows. This hands-on role allows you to deepen your technical expertise while improving how Mozillians work and collaborate.
Note: You don’t need to meet every listed qualification to be considered. We value diverse experiences and learning potential.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain scripts, APIs, and workflow automations for workplace systems like Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and Atlassian.
- Develop lightweight services or integrations that connect collaboration tools and internal systems to reduce manual work and enhance user experience.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and observability for automation and AI workflows; troubleshoot issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to secure onboarding, off-boarding, and workflows across access, permissions, and SaaS tools with automation where appropriate.
- Collaborate with IT, Security, and People teams to ensure compliance standards are embedded through automation and scripts.
- Participate in pilot projects for new AI and productivity capabilities, integrating LLMs and tracking usage metrics.
- Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and build a library of integration templates for team use.
- Work with senior engineers to modernize workplace systems through scalable architecture and intelligent workflows.
What We're Looking For
- 4–6 years of experience in software engineering, systems integration, or workplace technology development, focusing on automation or scripting.
- Proficiency in programming/scripting languages like Java, Go, Python, JavaScript/Apps Script, Bash, or PowerShell, and familiarity with RESTful APIs and integration frameworks.
- Familiarity with SaaS platforms (Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Atlassian) and interest in AI workflows.
- Understanding of IAM/SSO (Okta, SAML/OIDC/SCIM) or a willingness to learn; experience with automating access provisioning is a plus.
- Experience or curiosity about CI/CD, workflow orchestration, and building self-service delivery models.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills; able to collaborate with non-technical partners.
- A growth mindset: eager to learn new AI technologies, focused on user experience, and committed to improving systems.
- Interest in building AI-driven workflows and integrating them into workplace systems responsibly.
What We Offer
- Generous performance-based bonus plans for all eligible employees.
- Rich medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Generous retirement contributions with 100% immediate vesting.
- Quarterly wellness days for everyone to take a break together.
- Country-specific holidays plus a day off for your birthday.
- One-time home office stipend.
- Annual professional development budget.
- Quarterly well-being stipend.
- Considerable paid parental leave.
- Employee referral bonus program.
- Other benefits (life/AD&D, disability, EAP, etc. - varies by country).
