Join our team at Zencore as a Senior Data Engineer. In this role, you will work closely with innovative companies, guiding them through their journey on Google Cloud. You will be a trusted advisor, helping clients with data and application modernization.

About the Role

This position is a 6-month contract with the potential for extension. You will be part of our Data Engineering team, focusing on various technology topics including ETL/ELT, Data Warehousing, Distributed Data Processing, and Streaming Data systems.

What You'll Do

• Serve as a data engineer, providing expertise in Google Cloud.
• Build and maintain ELT or ETL pipelines that process large amounts of data.
• Work with cloud data warehouses, specifically BigQuery or Snowflake.
• Develop production applications using Spark or Hadoop.
• Utilize workload scheduling and orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or Cloud Composer.
• Engage in modern DataOps practices and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform.
• Communicate effectively with both internal teams and customers.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience as a data engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong skills in Python or a JVM language (Java, Scala).
• Advanced SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases.
• Experience with cloud data platforms in a production environment.
• Familiarity with GCP native data tools is preferred.
• Experience with dbt or Airbyte is a plus.
• Knowledge of batch, micro-batch, and real-time streaming architectures.
• Good communication skills, both internally and with customers.

Nice to Have

• Experience with relational database management systems and change data capture (CDC).
• Familiarity with the broader data engineering ecosystem and the ability to learn new tools quickly.
