Senior People Compliance Specialist, EMEA

As a Senior People Compliance Specialist at GitLab, you will manage compliant works council engagements across Germany, the Netherlands, and France. You will lead the processes that help teams navigate organizational changes smoothly and with clear governance.

About the Role

In this role, you will work closely with People Business Partners, Legal, and business leaders. Your goal is to build trusted relationships and reduce compliance risks through standardized guidance and training. Over your first year, you will focus on improving process efficiency and becoming a go-to advisor for works council requirements across the region.

What You'll Do

  • Manage works council engagements, ensuring compliance with legal timelines and requirements.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and information packages for works council meetings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with works council members through consistent support.
  • Collaborate with Legal and business leaders on consultation approaches.
  • Advise managers on works council requirements and best practices.
  • Handle multiple requests and consultations independently, ensuring timely completion.
  • Develop standardized processes and training materials to improve operations.
  • Track and maintain consultation records, ensuring compliance and audit readiness.
  • Stay updated on laws and regulations, partnering with Employment Counsel and Legal.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on HR compliance for cross-functional teams.
  • Proactively recommend changes to mitigate compliance risks.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in coordinating works council processes or labor relations in Europe.
  • Knowledge of works council requirements in Germany, the Netherlands, or France.
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in French; additional languages are a plus.
  • Understanding of European labor law and consultation rights.
  • Experience working with Legal and business leaders on sensitive matters.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.

Nice to Have

Experience with additional European countries' works council processes would be beneficial.
