Join us at Mapbox as we build a new Telemetry team. You will play a key role in developing systems that enhance navigation, maps, and search products on a global scale.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of Mapbox. You will design, develop, and operate critical services and data pipelines that process large amounts of device and geospatial data. Your work will directly impact how we improve our products, including Navigation SDK and Maps SDK.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with your team to identify and define tasks.
• Execute tasks and ensure timely delivery with quality.
• Design systems that can grow with Mapbox’s expanding customer base.
• Promote operational excellence by testing and monitoring systems, documenting processes, and supporting service health.
• Reduce technical debt and share knowledge to enhance team performance and morale.
• Encourage a culture of collaboration, transparency, and data-driven decision-making.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in building scalable, high-volume, low-latency backend services.
• 1+ years of experience in building streaming pipelines capable of handling petabytes of data.
• Eagerness to learn various test stacks and languages, including Python, NodeJS, TypeScript, Rust, C++, and AWS.
• Knowledge of global data security standards.
• Familiarity with code versioning tools like GitHub.
• Ability to engage, learn, and contribute quickly.
• Self-starter with strong communication skills and a focus on outcomes.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to develop hypotheses and communicate findings.
• Desire to share expertise through documentation and mentorship.
• Commitment to working with diverse individuals and fostering an inclusive environment.
• High-quality mindset, including writing unit tests and addressing defects proactively.

Nice to Have

Experience with AI integration in engineering workflows would be beneficial.
