At Zapier, we are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join our Identity Platform team. In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining the systems that ensure secure and reliable user authentication for our enterprise customers.

About the Role

The Identity Platform team is essential for delivering consistent and secure experiences to our customers. You will drive the strategic direction of our authentication infrastructure, enabling product teams to ship faster and with confidence.

What You'll Do

• Design and extend enterprise authentication infrastructure, including SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, OAuth/OIDC flows, and multi-factor authentication.
• Manage user session authentication across various services, ensuring consistency and security.
• Build enterprise authentication controls and compliance APIs, enforcing policies like forced SSO and credential lifecycle management.
• Develop platform APIs that are easy for other teams to integrate with, focusing on backward compatibility and clear documentation.
• Respond to authentication-related incidents and participate in on-call rotations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to help them effectively use authentication capabilities.

What We're Looking For

• Experience building identity systems for enterprise SaaS at scale, with hands-on knowledge of SAML, SCIM, OAuth/OIDC, or JWT.
• Understanding of authentication protocols and real-world challenges like token replay and session fixation.
• Ability to work with AI agents in your development process, directing and reviewing their output.
• Experience building systems that other engineering teams depend on, with a focus on maintaining backward compatibility.
• Comfort with multiple technologies, including Python, Node.js, Django, React, and infrastructure tools like Kubernetes and Terraform.
• A proactive approach to shipping software quickly, even in ambiguous situations.
• Strong communication skills, taking ownership of your work and fostering collaboration across teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience working closely with enterprise customers and internal engineering teams to understand their needs.
• Ability to handle compliance and security considerations as part of the design process.
