Join Mozilla as a Staff Application Engineer in our Workplace Technology team. In this role, you will lead technical initiatives that enhance collaboration and productivity across the organization. You will design and implement scalable systems and automation to improve our workplace platform.

About the Role

This position is part of the IT Function within the Mozilla Infrastructure team. Our IT team supports various services, including ERP, workplace services, service desk, and on-premises data center services. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will architect solutions that promote a safe and secure internet while improving how we work.

What You'll Do

• Architect, develop, and scale automation frameworks and workflows across Mozilla’s workplace technology ecosystem.
• Lead the engineering of lifecycle workflows for onboarding, off-boarding, and access provisioning using APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Build and maintain reusable libraries and SDKs to enhance AI-enabled productivity.
• Implement observability for workflows: define metrics, build dashboards, and tune for reliability and security.
• Collaborate with Security, Legal, and Privacy teams to ensure compliance and governance in automation flows.
• Evaluate and deploy new tools and AI productivity platforms, measuring their impact and adoption.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices for building systems.
• Work with cross-functional teams to deliver secure and efficient internal tools.
• Drive innovation by prototyping next-generation services that enhance productivity.

What We're Looking For

• 7–10 years of software engineering or automation experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong skills in Java, Go, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages.
• Experience integrating SaaS platforms and building automation layers.
• Familiarity with IAM/SSO systems and lifecycle automation.
• Ability to design for reliability, security, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Experience leading technical direction and mentoring others.
• Willingness to work with GenAI/LLM modalities and build operational patterns.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• A mindset of innovation and continuous improvement.

Salary Information

Hiring Ranges:

• US Tier 1 Locations: $163,000 — $217,000 USD
• US Tier 2 Locations: $150,000 — $200,000 USD
• US Tier 3 Locations: $138,000 — $185,000 USD
