About the Role

Alpaca is a US-headquartered self-clearing broker-dealer and brokerage infrastructure for stocks, ETFs, options, crypto, fixed income, and more. We have raised over $320 million in our recent Series D funding round. Our mission is to open financial services to everyone around the world. We serve hundreds of financial institutions across 40 countries with our institutional-grade APIs.

What You'll Do

• Own the design process: Lead the end-to-end design for complex web and mobile applications, from user research and discovery to pixel-perfect execution.
• Champion user needs: Understand our diverse user base and advocate for their needs throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Shape our design processes: Evolve design processes and rituals, exploring AI to improve collaboration and creativity.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Bring stakeholders and users through the design process to bring projects to life.
• Execute proactively: Manage multiple product and feature launches while consistently raising design quality.

What We're Looking For

• Experienced: 12+ years in product design with a track record of delivering quality across multiple end-user touchpoints.
• Leadership: Experience leading a team of designers and aligning them around product priorities and user-centered design strategy.
• User-centric: Passion for understanding user needs through research and metrics, advocating for user experience throughout the product lifecycle.
• Collaborative: Ability to facilitate alignment across product, engineering, and other teams using data and research.
• Systems Level Thinking: Experience establishing processes and standards for design consistency across products.
• Technical proficiency: Solid understanding of API-based products and how designs are implemented.

Nice to Have

• Experience working in a startup environment as a founding designer or part of a small team.
• Experience managing a small product design team.
• Familiarity with fintech, SaaS, medical/pharma, logistics, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or operational tooling-focused products.
