About the Role

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll be part of our Infrastructure team. Your work will include establishing our observability and alerting platform and architecting infrastructure for compliance in regulated sectors. This role requires initiative and ownership, allowing you to make significant improvements from day one.

What You'll Do

• Architect and scale our AWS infrastructure, focusing on container orchestration, autoscaling, networking, and cost optimization.
• Build our observability and alerting platform from scratch, owning it from design to production deployment.
• Lead infrastructure builds for compliance (SOC 2, HIPAA), scoping, building, and shipping solutions.
• Harden container workloads and manage secrets across production, staging, and compliance environments.
• Own the shared infrastructure stack (Postgres, Redis, Celery), identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, optimizing for speed, reliability, and security.
• Extend our Terraform codebase to keep environments reproducible and audit-ready, shipping changes weekly.
• Define and manage our reliability practices, including SLOs, incident response, and post-mortems.
• Reduce deploy friction and improve development environments to support engineering teams.
• Share on-call responsibilities with a small team, leading responses and post-mortems when issues arise.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering roles.
• Deep expertise with AWS and hands-on experience operating and scaling Kubernetes clusters.
• Strong understanding of container orchestration, networking, and security in cloud-native environments.
• Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably using Terraform.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with modern tools.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms.
• Proven track record of owning projects from start to finish.
• Ability to write clear decision documents and explain infrastructure trade-offs to both engineers and leadership.
• Experience building infrastructure from scratch in a fast-paced environment.
• A proactive approach, shipping daily and adapting to shifting priorities.

Nice to Have

• Hands-on compliance experience (SOC 2 or HIPAA) in regulated industries like fintech or healthcare.
• Experience with event-driven autoscaling and async task processing systems (e.g., Celery, SQS, KEDA).
• Experience with isolated or partitioned cloud environments for regulated workloads.
• Python scripting skills for automation and tooling.
• Experience with relational database administration and tuning in production.
• Background in cost optimization and FinOps practices.
• Experience with secrets management and Kubernetes package management.
